The State Forest Research Institute, Jabalpur as a part of conservation program, has a rich forest herbarium since its inception i.e. 1963. Now it holds over 20201 specimens. The families are arranged according to system of classification of flowering plants by Benthem and Hooker with delimitation to certain families in accordance with their current concept. These plant specimens are belongs to 206 families which covers 1183 genera and 3456 species.
