Greetings from State Forest Research Institute, Jabalpur

The institute came into existence on 27^th June, 1963, for the scientific development of forestry sector in the state. Over the years the institute has developed as an educational, training, research and consultancy organization at the state and national level. It was granted autonomy on 29^th October, 1994 and was registered on 2^nd August, 1995 as a society under M.P. Societies Registration Act 1973. The vision of SFRI is to function as nodal centre of research in forestry and to provide scientific support with particular emphasis on conservation, sustainable utilization and scientific management of natural resources of Madhya Pradesh. The institute conducts multidisciplinary research and provides technical advice to practical problems. The institute’s mission is to focus its efforts on adaptive and applied research programmes.  

As Director of this Institute and a professional forester, I am always willing to make available the expertise of SFRI to professional and field foresters along with academicians, researchers and nature lovers at large. This will enable us to contribute to the scientific management and conservation of forests, thereby maintaining equilibrium in the eco-system.
